Have you been to North Macedonia or have it on your travel bucket list?
Traveling with friends is all about shared experiences and unforgettable moments and our recent adventure through North Macedonia was no different. From the peaceful shores of Struga to the historic charm of Ohrid and the spiritual serenity of Saint Naum, every stop brought something unique to our journey.
Struga: Where the River Meets the Lake
Our trip began in Struga, a charming town located on the banks of the Black Drin River, right where it flows into Lake Ohrid. The laid-back atmosphere immediately welcomed us. We strolled along the river promenade, enjoyed fresh air, and soaked in the stunning views where water meets water. It was the perfect spot to relax and recharge before diving deeper into the region’s beauty.
Ohrid: The Pearl of the Balkans
Next, we made our way to Ohrid a town that truly lives up to its nickname, “The Pearl of the Balkans.” The blend of ancient history, crystal-clear lake waters, and vibrant culture captivated us. We wandered through the cobblestone streets, visited the impressive Ohrid Fortress, and enjoyed lakeside dinners with traditional Macedonian flavors. Ohrid’s timeless charm and welcoming vibe made it one of the highlights of our trip.
Saint Naum: A Spiritual and Natural Haven
A short drive brought us to the monastery of Saint Naum, nestled on the southeastern shore of Lake Ohrid. The peaceful surroundings and the monastery’s rich history offered a moment of reflection amid our active travels. We took a boat ride on the lake, spotting colorful fish and soaking in the serene landscape. Saint Naum was the perfect blend of spiritual calm and natural beauty.
Traveling Together, Creating Memories
What made this trip truly special was sharing it with friends the laughter, the late-night talks, the spontaneous adventures. North Macedonia’s warm hospitality and stunning landscapes gave us countless stories to take home.
